About me

I am new to being vegan - in fact it's really just an experiment. And, to the die hard vegan I suppose you could say I am not one - for I will sometimes eat honey. But, I do my best and I stay away from meat, dairy and eggs.

Upon starting this blog, I have been vegan for 2 months (with 1 egg and 1 fish exception). This is my journey in learning, reasoning, cooking and eating. It's a new world for me - reading ingredients and finding substitutions... I have eaten just about every crazy thing you've seen on the travel channel during my travels and time living overseas.

New to Portland, it is fun to explore the city from a vegan perspective - and what a great place to start out. (My native state of Texas would present a much greater challenge!) My husband (from Iceland - land of meat and creamy sauces) has been a great sport. I did not ask him to experiment with me, but he agrees to having vegan meals at home and most of his meals at work are vegetarian. So, it's a journey for both of us!
